Here are a few examples of some the work that will be on display November 6th during Richmond's First Friday art walk on Broad Street. I made everything with Grolleg porcelain cone 6. Color was added with a variety of mason stains. Check out Eric Shindler Gallery on Facebook
The content of my work is directly influenced by the architectural and historical surroundings in the places where I live, combined with a dedication to sculpting narratives in miniature environments. Working with porcelain I illustrate places where you can see the intricate entanglements of history in thick layers, while challenging the popular reputation of the medium.
The little isolated worlds I create are inspired by waking life observations and guided by dream imagery. The imagery currently includes local buildings, homes, abandoned places, trees, subterranean levels, and archeology. Working with the porcelain I personify these inert objects to portray social and interpersonal relationships in an accessible manner.
